The point that I thought was most interesting about the introduction to this ETP course was that 50% of small businesses fail after the first five years. That really surprised me. It seems that if a business can make it the first five years, it can make it all the way. It was also interesting to me that 65% of the businesses that fail, do so because of a people problem. The dynamics between family, employees, and partners can make or break a business. This just goes to show you that no matter how amazing an idea you have, if you don't have the right people in the right places, you can fail.
